Geneva R. Morton, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born May 3, 1915, at Perkins, Mo., daughter of Arthur and Lora Haney Garrison. She and Hurst H. Morton were married Dec. 28, 1952, in Cape Girardeau. He died Oct. 27, 1963.
Mrs. Morton attended Cape Girardeau Schools. She worked at Brune Cleaners 10 years, and at Tipton Cleaners 20 years, retiring in 1976.
She played softball for International Shoe Co. in the 1930s. She was of the Methodist faith, and a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 3775, and lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post 3838.
Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Reynolds of Zalma, Mo., June Colter of St. Louis, June Ingram, Judy Bullock Graetz and Jo Rodgers, all of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Thelma Harvel of Anna, Ill., and Virginia Trout of Louisville, Ky.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Larry Reynolds, Chris Reynolds, Kathy Johnson, Bill Ingram, Kevin Bullock, Joe Bullock, Todd Rodgers, Adam Rodgers, Jason Rodgers, Priscilla Holzbauer; 16 great-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend, Virgie Hill of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, George Arthur Chiles; two grandsons, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
