Geneva Lichtenegger

Geneva B. Lichtenegger, 86, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, March 16, 2007 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 28, 1920, at Neelys Landing, daughter of Edward F. and Mary Stanley Brown. She and Charles J. Lichtenegger were married Nov. 22, 1942, in Pocahontas. He passed away Dec. 16, 2006.

Geneva was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. She was active in the Ladies Aide, and was instrumental in organizing the quilts for The Lutheran World Relief. She worked at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson, helped her husband on the family farm and had been active in the Pocahontas 4-H Club. After she and her husband moved to Cape Girardeau in 1986, she volunteered at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Marcella M. Arbogast and fiance, John F. Ford; a son, Jerel Wayne and Avelina Lichtenegger of Cape Girardeau; three granddaughters, Margaret Marie Turner, Lisa Ann Jones and Anja Genie Marasini; five great-grandchildren, Amber Michelle Turner, Emily Lynne Turner, Alexis Marie Arbogast, Preston Wesley Bartels, Madisyn Nycole Bartels and Rajan Marasini; and a brother, Fred W. Brown of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, and after noon on Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be Sunday, March 18, 2007, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karl Leeman officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
