Geneva Evans

L. Geneva Evans, 88, of Cape Girardeau departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 5, 1922, in Duarte, Calif., daughter of the late Robert Foster Davis and Geneva Atherton Davis. She and Louis W. Evans were married June 26, 1940. He preceded her in death March 18, 1990.

Geneva lived on a small farm just outside Bloomfield, Mo., more than 60 years. She was a loving and beloved mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty and Kenneth Dixon of Jackson, Barbara Evans of Bloomfield; a son, Bob Evans of Pasadena, Calif.; three grandchildren, Kendra and husband Tim Ward of Dexter, Mo., Kevin and wife Laurie Dixon of Kapolei, Hawaii, and Drew and wife Elizabeth Evans of Pasadena; four great-grandchildren, Evan Curtis Ward of Dexter, Sydney Grace Dixon of Kapolei, Brittany Mathis and Justin Ward of Dexter.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert F. Davis Jr.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery at Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Mrs. Evans' memory.
