Gene E. Points, 74, 555 N. Spring, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ernest Lee and Sophia Hahs Points. He first married Helen Nanney, who preceded him in death. He and Thelma Burke Adams were married April 20, 1968.
Points was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau. He owned Parisian Dry Cleaners, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, was a founder of Cape Little League, past president of Evening Optimist Club, and a former member of Elks Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Points of Delmar, Md., and a sister, Betty Shackles of St. Ann.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 6-8 p.m. today, and Wednesday after 8:30 a.m.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Brothers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
