Gene Hooper, 71, of Bertrand, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1992, at his home.
He was born Oct. 10, 1921, at Idalia, son of Berry and Rebecca Tate Hooper. He married the former Pauletta Hurley.
Hooper was a mechanic with city of Bertrand, retiring in 1984. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, David, Harold and Tony Hooper of Bertrand; Bobo Hooper of Sikeston; five daughters, Becky Boyer and Kelly Brown of Bertrand, Sandy Woodruff of Bardwell, Ky., Carol Bailey of Cape Girardeau, Libby Downing of Sikeston; a brother, Jesse Hooper of Bertrand; a sister, Florence Ferrell, Benton Route 1; 20 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Chapel in Charleston. The Rev. Charles Kohlbaker will officiate, with burial in Bluff Cemetery at Idalia.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5:30 p.m. today.
