JACKSON -- Funeral service for Eugene "Gene" Green of Wappapello will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Don Covington will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30.
Green, 65, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of Luther and Pearl Borneman Green.
Green was a heavy equipment operator many years, working out of Local 513 of International Union AFL/CIO. He was a member of VFW posts in Cape Girardeau and Wappapello, and American Legion Post in Jackson.
Survivors include a son, Michael Green of St. Louis; two daughters, Sandra Jackson and Jean Brown of St. Louis; a brother, Jay Green of Egypt Mills; three sisters, Anna Eddleman of Cape Girardeau, Ella Crow of Jefferson City, Mary Oldham of Jackson; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
