SIKESTON, Mo. -- Gayle Collins, 86, of Sikeston died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born April 1, 1918, at Sikeston, daughter of Foy F. and Fletia M. Edmondson Collins.
Collins was a 1935 graduate of Sikeston High School, attended the first licensed practical nurse class at Missouri Delta Medical Center in 1963 and 1964, and attended Three Rivers Community College in 1976.
She was a lab technician and assistant 28 years for Dr. T.C. McClure at McClure Clinic. She worked at Missouri Delta Medical Center from 1964 to 1984, during which time she was appointed to Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Collins was personnel coordinator at Sikeston Convalescent Center, retiring in 1988. She was a member of First Baptist Church and sang in the choir, and was a member and officer in Sikeston LPN Chapter since its inception.
Survivors include a brother, Gene Collins of Sikeston, and a sister, Ruth Ziegenhorn of Sikeston.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with Dr. Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
