DONGOLA, Ill. -- Funeral for Gary Smith of Dongola will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. The Rev. Dare Aden will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today, and Thursday until service time.

Smith, 23, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in Canton, Ill.

He was born May 8, 1977, in Belleville, Ill., son of Gary and Lou Griffin Smith Sr. He married Heather Graves.

Smith was a laborer.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Cody and Brandon of Anna, Ill.; a daughter, Dakota of Anna; mother and stepfather, Wanda McDowell and Larry Musgraves of Anna; father and stepmother, Gary and Shirlynn Smith of Dongola; three brothers, Billy Smith of Bowling Green, Ky., Bobby Smith of Cypress, Ill., Bradley Smith of Anna; a sister, Shirley Smith of McClure, Ill.; maternal grandfather, Golburn Griffin of Anna; maternal grandmother, Lou Dickerson of Anna; and paternal grandmother, Ella Smith of Dongola.
