ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for Gary Rocco Herren of Anna will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Gospel Assembly Church.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 5 p.m. today.

Herren, 54, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Route 146 East.

He was born May 18, 1947, in Metropolis, Ill., son of Alvin and Loudean Christian Herren. He and Nancy Yates were married March 4, 1966.

Herren began an apprenticeship with IBEW Local 702 in West Frankfort, Ill., in 1966. In 1985 he founded B&B Refrigeration, then changed the name to Herren Mechanical and Electrical Inc. in January 1992. The business closed Sept. 30, 2001.

He was a member of Christian Assembly Church in Louisville, Ky., and was currently serving on the Shawnee Community College Foundation Board of Directors. He was a former member of Hill House Board of Directors in Carbondale, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; and maternal grandmother, Opal Christian of Marion, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents.
