AVINGER, Texas -- Garland Mims, 83, formerly of Jackson died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his home in Avinger, Texas.
He was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Morris County, Texas, son of Davis W. and Verna Little Mims.
Survivors include three brothers, D.W. Mims of Euless, Texas, Phillip Mims of Daingerfield, Texas, and Ferris W. Mims of Garland, Texas; two grandchildren, Hanna Maghee of Sikeston, and Lloyd Davis Mims of Marble Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eudena Proctor Mims, and two sons.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the Haggard-Heaster Funeral Home in Jefferson, Tex.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday. The Rev. Rusty Brady will officiate, with burial at the Mims Chapel Cemetery.
