Gardis F. Kump, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Schurgast, Silesia, the daughter of Kurt and Hildegard Jambor Fietz.
Gardis and Richard J. Kump were married July 19, 1952, in Salzburg, Austria.
She was a professional dancer with the Salzburg Opera Ballet, and later moved to the United States with her husband. Gardis was a member of the SEMO University Faculty Dames and the Red Hat Society, and she and her family were members of St. Mary Cathedral.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Dr. Richard J. Kump of Cape Girardeau; daughters, Maria Doering of Charlotte, N.C., and Christiane Tibbitts of Raleigh, N.C.; three granddaughters; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a twin sister.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with Father Tom Kiefer officiating.
Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the United Service Organization (USO).
