FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Frieda Ruth Clark, 99, of Fredericktown, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at Stockhoff Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1918, in Illmo to Louis and Sarah Nina Ireland Westerwelle. She and Harold Clark were married March 26, 1937, in Marble Hill, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 26, 2012.
Frieda worked at Eli Walker Factory in Scott City for seven years. She and her husband were in the flea-market business for 20 years. She collected and sold dolls.
Her signature dish was chicken and dumplings; she passed that recipe on to another generation. Fun evenings with friends included pinochle and Skip-Bo; she excelled at both.
She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1938 and to Fredericktown in 2008.
She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Vivian (Charles) Ellicott of Wall, New Jersey, and Charlotte (Calvin, deceased) Ellis of Fredericktown; one brother, Richard (Connie, deceased) Westerwelle of Provo, Utah; one sister, Margie (Miles, deceased) Hill of McClure, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Mark) DeLauro, Roger Ellis, Susan (Lonnie) White, Andrew (Renee) Ellicott, Krislyn (Glenn) Srour, Vicki (Mark) Wagganer and Ross (Cara) Ellicott; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and four sisters.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Tommy Fults officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
