METROPOLIS, Ill. -- Freeman T. Finley, 68, of Metropolis, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died Tuesday, May 5, at his home.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Metropolis, and a 32nd-degree Mason at Masonic Lodge 407 AF & AM. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He had been a farmer in Brookport, Ill., and Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Finley; four sons, Freeman Hunt Finley of Metropolis, Clay Monroe Finley of Dallas, Texas, Steve Fithian of Owensboro, Ind., and Billy Fithian of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; a daughter, Kelly Jo Wicker of Owensboro, Ind.; a sister, Dorothy Jane Finley Goodin of Charleston; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Essie Stark Finley, his first wife, Helen, two sons and a brother.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Aikins Funeral Home in Metropolis and Thursday from 9 a.m. until funeral at the First Baptist church. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Louis Brinker officiating. Burial will be at the Finley Cemetery in Charleston. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Charleston Masonic Lodge.
