DEXTER -- Freeda Rodgers, 90, of Dexter died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.
She was born Jan. 2, 1909, at Rombauer, daughter of John and Pearl Kimes Powell. She and John W. Rodgers were married July 3, 1925, at Mingo. He died July 4, 1973.
A lifelong resident of Stoddard County, she had lived at Dexter the past 44 years. She retired as a seamstress at Elder Manufacturing Co. She was a member of First General Baptist Church, and was a member of Dexter Memorial Hospital Auxiliary many years.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Rodgers of Dexter, Jimmy Rodgers of Titus, Ala., Roy Rodgers of Wappapello; three daughters, LaVerne Snider of Puxico, Rita Corlew of Hemit, Calif., Ocia Bryant of Wappapello; two brothers, Carlos Powell of Poplar Bluff, Franklin Powell of Puxico; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by seven children, three brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Kenneth Biggs and Doyle Corlew officiating. Burial will be in Puxico Cemetery.
