POPLAR BLUFF -- Frederick Benton Shrum, 68, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at Lucy Lee Healthcare System.
He was born May 29, 1928, at Shook, and was a graduate of Greenville High School. He and Ola M. McKlintic were married Sept. 24, 1951, in Piggott, Ark. She died Sept. 10, 1991.
Shrum served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1973. He moved to Poplar Bluff and worked 17 years at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.
Survivors include a son, Chris Shrum of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Debra Goss of Tulsa, Okla., Donna Hale of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, James and Harold Shrum of Greenville, Lester Shrum of Shook; four sisters, Velma Helm, Trella Helm, Helen Cable, all of Shook, Betty Lapka of Fairview Heights, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call at Cotrell Funeral Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery, with the Rev. David Richardson officiating.
