Freda Jean Whiteside, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Fountainbleau Lodge.
She was born Jan. 24, 1935, near East Prairie, Mo., to Raymond and Mildred Mayberry Dick. She and J.F. Whiteside were married March 1, 1958, at Charleston, Mo.
Whiteside was a 1954 graduate of Anniston High School. She was employed by Production Credit in Charleston before moving to Cape Girardeau in 1964. She drove a school bus for the Cape Girardeau School District 12 years, and for BART Transportation 15 years. She was a member of Red Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Daniel Jay Whiteside of Cape Girardeau and his girlfriend, Beth Markhart, and her children, Michael Markhart and Michaela Markhart; a grandson, Tyson Whiteside of Cape Girardeau; a daughter-in-law, Toni Whiteside of Flowery Branch, Ga.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jackie and Barbara Whiteside of Charleston; an aunt, Velma Dick of East Prairie; two nieces, three nephews and their families; and a number of cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, James David Whiteside; and her twin brother, Shirley Dean Dick.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Ray Duffey of Cape Girardeau officiating. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
