Fred Joe Weaver, 79, of Senoia, Georgia, formerly of Scott City, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Brightmoor Hospice.
He was born Aug. 31, 1934, to Fred P. and Marguerite Haman Weaver.
Fred served in the United States Army.
His favorite pastimes included baseball and discovering buried treasure with his metal detector. He was a pitcher for the American Legion baseball team, Texas Rangers farm team and the Capahas of Cape Girardeau. He managed Little League and Pony League teams. He also loved fishing, reading books, working outside, remodeling and, most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution in Pensacola, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Weaver; children, Randall Joe Weaver and Robert Kent Weaver; five grandchildren, Mario Stephens of Stephensville, Louisiana, Daniel Weaver of Seattle, Kelly Weaver and Kylie Weaver of Senoia and Christina Marlow of Westminster, Maryland; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Skyler, Mia and Levi.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time June 14 at the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. June 14 at the funeral home.
