FRED STURGEON JR.

ORAN -- Fred L. Sturgeon Jr., 79, of Oran died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Jan. 16, 1921, at Oran, son of Fred L. and Lucie Alice Smith Sturgeon Sr. He and Mildred "Mickey" Howell were married Oct. 9, 1941. She died April 7, 1999...

ORAN -- Fred L. Sturgeon Jr., 79, of Oran died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 16, 1921, at Oran, son of Fred L. and Lucie Alice Smith Sturgeon Sr. He and Mildred "Mickey" Howell were married Oct. 9, 1941. She died April 7, 1999.

Sturgeon had been a steam fitter with St. Louis City Schools. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 184 at Morley.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Sturgeon III of Chicago, William Sturgeon of St. Louis; two daughters, Judith Osseck of St. Louis, Carolyn Chrun of St. Peters; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 2 p.m. Thursday. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery.
