Fred Edward Ostendorf, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Saint Francis Medical Center due to a farming accident. He was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John and Cecilia Millering Ostendorf. He and Stella Kirchdoerfer were married Sept. 1, 1956, at Cape Girardeau. She died Nov. 28, 1965...

Fred Edward Ostendorf, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Saint Francis Medical Center due to a farming accident.

He was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John and Cecilia Millering Ostendorf. He and Stella Kirchdoerfer were married Sept. 1, 1956, at Cape Girardeau. She died Nov. 28, 1965.

Ostendorf was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus Council 1111, and was a 4-H leader. He was a farmer in Cape Girardeau all his life.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Illers of Cape Girardeau; a son, Richard Ostendorf of Cape Girardeau; a brother, John Ostendorf of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. and Knights of Columbus Rosary immediately following.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
