SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Fred L. Gwaltney of Sikeston will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Pat Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Gwaltney, 93, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Center.
He was born Oct. 22, 1906, in Sikeston, son of Joseph Monroe and Emma Smith Gwaltney. He first married Grace Gwaltney, who preceded him in death. He and Virginia Griffin Dollar were married Aug. 30, 1969.
Gwaltney had been a shoe cutter at International Shoe Co. He attended Shady Acres Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Virginia Miles of Seabrook Island, S.C.; three stepgrandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-stepgranddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, three brothers, and three sisters.
