EAST PRAIRIE -- Fred Franklin Flowers, 78, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Mississippi County, son of the late George and Cara Cogdill Flowers. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Nazarene in Matthews.

He married Lueannie Smithson on June 29, 1940, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1994.

He is survived by two daughters, Ann Hammontree of East Prairie and Shirley Day of Matthews; one sister, Bea Smithson of East Prairie; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Heitman, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Matthews, officiating. Burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery.
