ULLIN, Ill. -- Fred Day, 72, of Ullin died Saturday, Oct. 22, 1994, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.
He was born Jan. 6, 1922, at Johnston City, Ill., the son of John C. and Kathryn M. Hanke Day. He married Mary E. "Ibby" Watkins on June 1, 1941. She survives.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ullin, where he served as church treasurer, Sunday school superintendent and teacher.
He was a retired rural mail carrier, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8891 in Mounds, Ill., and a member of the American Legion. He also was a member of Caledonia Lodge 47 AF & AM of Pulaski and the Ullin Civic Club.
A daughter, Brenda King of Ullin, also survives.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the Wednesday service at 11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin. The Rev. Beth Tickner will officiate, and burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
