Franz A. Meier Jr., 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at his home. He was born April 4, 1936, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Franz A. and Elinor Driver Meier Sr. He and Mary Diehl were married in 1963. Franz A. Meier Jr., 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at his home.

He was born April 4, 1936, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Franz A. and Elinor Driver Meier Sr. He and Mary Diehl were married in 1963.

Franz graduated from St. Joseph College (Missouri Western) and attended Southeast Missouri State University. An Army veteran, he served two years with the 2nd Armored Cavalry. He retired in 1995 after 30 years with Quaker Oats Co.

Survivors include his beautiful wife, Mary Meier of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Christie Snyder, Wendi (Ron) Fogarty and Becki Meier; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anne Ostensen.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lynwood Baptist Church, 2935 Lynwood Hills Drive in Cape Girardeau.

A celebration of life memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Crown Hospice, Lynwood Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
