EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Franklin Scott Mainord Sr. of East Prairie will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. Pastor Dave Bowden and Martin Lucas will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Mainord, 77, died Tuesday, March 8, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Jan. 7, 1917, in Mississippi County, son of Milas Frank and Myrtis Scott Mainord. He and Sue Presson were married Dec. 26, 1948.
Mainord graduated from East Prairie High School in 1936, attended school in Memphis, Tenn., and owned and operated a farm implement store here. He was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 until discharged as a second lieutenant in 1946.
He farmed and was an agent with Farm Bureau Insurance 42 years. He had served as public administrator of Mississippi County, and was currently serving on the transit board.
Mainord was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, deacon and trustee. He was a past member of East Prairie R-2 School Board.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Franklin Mainord Jr. of Scott City, Kevin Mainord of East Prairie; a daughter, Martha Mainord of East Prairie; two brothers, Bill Mainord of Danville, Ill., Robert Mainord of Nederland, Texas; two sisters, Lauranna Clevidence of East Prairie, Mary Brice of Tulsa, Okla., and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
