Reeves, 78, died Saturday, May 17, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Charleston, son of Odie and Ora Scott Reeves. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Odie and Mittie Parker Reeves He and Lydia Nations were married Aug. 30, 1941, in Milton, Fla.

Reeves was an attorney, serving as a prosecutor and a probate judge in Mississippi County, and later worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired in 1982.

He was a lieutenant commander in the Naval Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William M. Reeves of Puxico, Charles Reeves Jr., address unknown; three daughters, Linda Madrid of Lima, Ohio, Dana Morrow of Cape Girardeau, Patricia Holstay of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Marshall Reeves of Cape Girardeau; two half brothers, Joseph and Byron Reeves of Charleston; three half sisters, Mildred Burnett and Donna Morgan of Charleston, Francis Goldes of North Carolina, and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother.
