Frank Havel, 78. of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Aug. 5, 1920 at Chicago, Ill., the son of Frank and Lillian Zendrick Havel.
Mr. Havel was in the U.S. Army from 1939 to 1945, having served under General George Patton in the infantry. He was an auto plant worker for Ford Motor Co. in St. Louis for 29 years, and was a member of the U.A.W.Survivors include three sisters, Grace Bennet of Lake Isabella, Calif., Rosemary Havel of Kent, Wash., and Lois Unfer of Cape Girardeau; five nieces, Roberta (Joe) Terry, Mary Susan Smith, Laurel Toliever, Valerie Horn, and Jennifer Horn; two nephews, Robert Unfer and Don Havel; and locally, three great-nieces, Melissa, Megan, and Mackenzie Terry.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Havel.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating.
