SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Francis Edward Owen, Scott City Route 2, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate, with burial in Lightner Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel after 5 p.m. today.

Owen, 85, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 17, 1911, in St. Louis, son of Edward Francis and Mae Reynolds Owen. He and Bertha Helen Cassout were married Jan. 5, 1935, in Cairo, Ill.

Owen had been a pilot with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of VFW Post 6407. Owen served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Francis Owen of Richland, N.C., John Owen of Scott City; two daughters, Virginia Cook of Cary, N.C., Donna Ford of Waco, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandchild.
