Francine Payne

Francine Payne, 82, of Whitewater, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 1, 1926, at Puxico, Mo., daughter of Cecil Lawrence Whitesell and Esther Lillian Murdock. She and Grover Curtis Payne were married March 14, 1969. He died Jan. 27, 2004.

Payne retired as a clerk for the Burling Northern Railroad in Chaffee, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Whitewater, Mo., and a 50-year member of the Chaffee Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Payne of Cape Girardeau, Danny Payne of Williamsport, Tenn.; a brother, Franklin Whitesell of Marble Hill, Mo.; a sister, Erline Whitesell of Chaffee; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Berry officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
