Florence Krudwig, 71, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Anna, Ill., died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her home.

She was born Sept. 29, 1940, in St. Louis, to Henry and Florence Dale Sovar. She and Robert L. Krudwig were married Dec. 19, 1964. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 2009.

Florence was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 522 in Anna, St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, and was a former member of First Lutheran Church of Dongola, Ill. She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and Beta Sigma Phi sororities.

She taught elementary school in the Hazelwood Community School District in St. Louis County. She moved to Southern Illinois in 1972 and lived in Union County. She taught at Egyptian School in Tamms, Ill., from 1979 until retirement in 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Robb) Steele of St. Louis, Diane (Mike) Higgins of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Higgins; a sister, Shirley (Richard) Mueller of St. Peters, Mo.; two brothers, Donald (Carol) Sovar of St. Louis, Richard (Evelyn) Sovar of Fenton, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Doris Sovar of Anna; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Bob Sovar; and a sister, Mildred Davidson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. S. Michael Malone officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church to support local food ministries and will be accepted at the funeral home.
