Florence Marie Jones, 1318 Big Bend in Cape Girardeau, died Friday, April 11, 1997, at the Birchtree Health Care facility in Clinton, Ky. She was 85 years old.
She was born June 2, 1911, in DuQuoin, Ill., daughter of Ed and Eva Mann Davis. She married Jonathan Jackson Jones on Oct. 26, 1929, in Jackson. He preceded her in death June 13, 1959.
She was employed by the International Shoe Company for 14 years and the Blue Hole for eight years. She also worked for five years as a cook on the Engleman Barge in New Orleans, La. She was a member of Red Star Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jack Jones, of Mayfield, Ky.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating.
