DEXTER -- Funeral service for Fletcher W. Chasteen of Dexter will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Dismuke will officiate, with burial in Dexter Cemetery.
Chasteen, 93, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 28, 1904, at Bloomfield, son of William Oliver and Elsie Mae Street Chasteen. He and Ivah M. Bailey were married Dec. 24, 1924, at Dudley. She died Feb. 9, 1990.
Chasteen was a former postmaster at Leora. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Dexter, Bloomfield Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of the Valley of St. Louis.
Survivors include a son, Fletcher Chasteen of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mary Benjamin of Ballwin, Judy Silvagni of Moberly; a brother, Commodore Chasteen of state of Florida; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
