Flavian A. Lappe, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Biehle, Mo., son of Ben Joseph and Josephine Blechle Lappe. He and Petronella A. Halter were married Oct. 15, 1946, in Apple Creek, Mo.
Mr. Lappe served in the Army during World War II. He was a custodian at St. Mary's Grade School for 27 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Disabled American Veterans, Honorary Life Member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111, and Life Member of VFW Post No. 3838.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert (Maryln) Lappe and Paul (Debbie) Lappe, all of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Patricia (Tom) Blattel of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jim Lappe of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Florence Welker of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Amy (Shawn) Seabaugh, Michael (Jamie) Lappe, Brad (Leah) Lappe, Jeff (Sarah) Lappe, Kevin (Karisa) Lappe, Alan (Jessica) Blattel and Jonathan Blattel; 10 great-grandchildren, Addison and Brooke Seabaugh, Andrew, Chloe, Austin, Chelsea and Carly Lappe, Trustin Lappe, Dustin Lappe and Eden Lappe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sylvester and Elmer Lappe; and a sister, Millie Richardson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish Prayers will be at 7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.
The funeral Mass will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Missouri Honors Team.
