SIKESTON -- Finus E. Beggs, 85, of rural Sikeston died Thursday, May 30, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Morley, son of William and Mary Capps Beggs Sr. He first married Dorothy E. Adkins on Oct. 27, 1928. She died May 26, 1976. Beggs then married Opal Wagoner Williams on Jan. 14, 1978. She survives...

SIKESTON -- Finus E. Beggs, 85, of rural Sikeston died Thursday, May 30, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Morley, son of William and Mary Capps Beggs Sr. He first married Dorothy E. Adkins on Oct. 27, 1928. She died May 26, 1976. Beggs then married Opal Wagoner Williams on Jan. 14, 1978. She survives.

Beggs was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a member of the New Savannah Baptist Church in Sikeston.

Other survivors are two daughters, Carol Sue Sneed and June Hart, both of Sikeston; a stepson, Michael Williams of Sikeston; four stepdaughters, Barbara Hampe of Boise, Idaho, Kathy Vancil of Bridgeton, Reba Gardner of Bell City and Marilyn McConnell of Anaheim, Calif.; three sisters, Thelma Young of Miner, Mary Hopper of Benton and Dorothy Ervin of Jackson; four grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, stepson, seven brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Nunnelee Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Fansler officiating. Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery.
