SIKESTON, Mo. -- Fielding DeLisle Potashnick, 72, of Sikeston died Aug. 20, 2005, at his home. He was born May 9, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, son of Eugene and Vivian Dye Potashnick. Potashnick practiced as a lawyer for more than 30 years in Sikeston. He served as Scott County prosecuting attorney, Sikeston municipal judge and secretary of the Sikeston Board of Education for many years. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Fielding DeLisle Potashnick, 72, of Sikeston died Aug. 20, 2005, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, son of Eugene and Vivian Dye Potashnick.

Potashnick practiced as a lawyer for more than 30 years in Sikeston. He served as Scott County prosecuting attorney, Sikeston municipal judge and secretary of the Sikeston Board of Education for many years. He was a founder of the Bootheel Bass Busters Fishing Club.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Sikes Potashnick; a son, David Potashnick of Rogersville, Mo.; a daughter, Julia Long of Burke, Va.; a brother, Morton Potashnick of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Sarah Ponder of Charleston, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Dempster Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. The interment will be private.
