Fern Elizabeth Carns, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born April 24, 1915, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of Henry Thomas and Lita Allen Helm. She and Lester P. Carns were married Dec. 25, 1938, in Poplar Bluff. He died May 26, 1989.
She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1968. She was a former teacher at Jack and Jill Pre-School in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Carns of Palm Bay, Fla., Doug Carns of Indianapolis, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two stepbrothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Shupert officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
