Fannie May King, 84, of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born July 2, 1913, in Lula, Miss., daughter of Freeman and Mary Underwood Phifer Sr. She and Elder Malachi King were married in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death.

King had been a housekeeper for the Judge Oliver, Mennen and Fulbright families. She lived in Cape Girardeau about 50 years, and was a former member of Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church.

She moved to St. Louis in 1995 from Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Bibleway Church, its missionary department and mother's board.

Survivors include two sons, Omar Fataikeishmal of Cape Girardeau, Henry Phifer of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter, Tommie Bailey of St. Louis; two sisters, Cornilus Williams of Cape Girardeau, Johnnie Turner of East St. Louis, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, seven brothers, 11 sisters, and a grandson.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Faith Tabernacle Church, with the Rev. Doyle Randol officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
