CHARLESTON -- Evora E. Lane, 86, of Charleston died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Miss.
She was born May 30, 1911, in Bertrand, daughter of Oscar Irl and Millie Maude Main Oliver and had lived in Mississippi County most of her life.
She married Robert Price "Mike" Lane on July 3, 1933. He died Jan. 3, 1973.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a master's degree in elementary education and taught in the Bertrand and Charleston school districts for 27 years and until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston and taught the Susanna Wesley Sunday School class for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and was active in the Athena Club and the Charleston Business and Professional Women's Club.
She is survived by a son, Mike Lane of Georgetown, Texas; a daughter, Terry Cole of Brandon, Miss.; a sister, Mary Seaton of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Rick White will officiate. Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.
