COBDEN, Ill. -- Everett E. Randall, 91, of Cobden died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.
He was born July 22, 1910, in Ware, Ill., son of Lawrence M. and Myrtle Slaughter Randall. He and Constance Burgeois were married Sept. 13, 1932, in Elmhurst, Ill.
Randall went into the oil distributor business with his father in 1930. He became owner and operator of Union County Oil Co. in 1939, retiring in 1972. He served as mayor of Cobden from 1953 to 1959.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, general secretary and clerk. He was an ordained deacon and served on Clear Creek Baptist Association Board more than 30 years.
Randall was a charter member and president of Lions Club, life member of Masonic Lodge 466 AF&AM, member of Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Southern Illinois, Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis, Ill., American Legion Post 259, and Anna Eastern Star.
He served in the Merchant Marines.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beverly McKinney of Anna, Linda Knauer of Cobden; a sister, Margaret Loomis of St. Louis; a brother, Charles Randall of Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday from noon until service time at First Baptist Church. Masonic service will be at 7:45 tonight.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor and Dr. Daryl Varble officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 259.
