Everett James "Pen" Skiles, 85, formerly of McClure, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1996, at Caseyville Nursing Home in Caseyville, Ill.

He was born July 30, 1910, son of Henry and Lizzie Goodman Skiles. He and Hazel Smith were married Feb. 26, 1934, in Jonesboro, Ill. She died March 28, 1993.

Skiles was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Belleville, Ill., and Local 318 in Harrisburg, Ill.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Skiles of High Ridge, Larry "Bo" Skiles of Marion, Ill.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Revs. Larry Blake and Danny Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
