Evelyn Pauline Simpher, 97, of Jackson passed away peacefully Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Monticello House.
She was born July 25, 1922, in Cape Girardeau to Emil and Hermenia Schwepker Simpher.
She retired from Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee, Missouri, after 35 years in order to selflessly care for her mother for 15 years. She loved sitting on her porch visiting with her neighbors and watching her hummingbirds. Her pride and joy in this life was her church, her only daughter and her three beautiful granddaughters.
She leaves behind a daughter, Linda Blankenship of Jackson; sister, Coleen Smith of Jackson; and granddaughters, Nicki (Craig) Vaugh of Farmington, Missouri, Carrie (Rob) Johnson of Jackson and Wendy (Nick) Mayberry of Cape Girardeau; great-grandchildren, Makaila, Isaac, Caleb and Zackery Leask of Farmington, Makenzie and Jacob Johnson of Jackson and Will and Seth Mayberry of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind a lifelong family friend, Joyce Seabaugh of Gordonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; a brother, Raymond "Bud" (Louise) Simpher; and sisters Viola (Albert) Overbeck and Lorene (Bearl) McDaniel.
A private family burial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allen Saunders officiating.
The family will have a funeral mass at St. Mary's Cathedral at a later date.
May God bless the staff at Monticello House for all their care for the past two years. The family will always be eternally grateful. She loved you.
