Evelyn Marie Kiehne Sewing, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Jackson, daughter of Otto C. and Clara B. Ahrens Kiehne. She married Wallace Nelson Sewing on Dec. 17, 1938, at Christ Lutheran Church parsonage in Gordonville. He died Feb. 5, 1967.
Survivors include Jerry and Brenda Sewing Woemmel, O. Richard and Beverly Kiehne, Clay Woemmel and Brooks Terry.
Mrs. Sewing graduated from Jackson High School in 1937. She received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1953, and a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri in 1963. She was an elementary teacher in Millersville, Jackson and Cape Girardeau.
Beginning in 1964 she served as the counselor at Louis J. Schultz School Seventh Grade Center until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband and a brother, Harold F. Kiehne.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will follow in Cape County Memorial Park.
