Evelyn L. Schoenebeck, 91, of Jackson passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 28, 1923, near Oak Ridge, daughter of Oscar Charles and Hilda Matilda Friedrich Ludwig. She and William Albert "Bill" Schoenebeck were married Nov. 1, 1942, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fruitland. He passed away Feb. 13, 1966.
Evelyn graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1939. She worked for Bell Telephone as an operator in Cape Girardeau, Stoddard and Perry counties, retiring in 1982. She and Bill raised turkeys on their farm. They were co-owners of a feed store in Fruitland, and hauled livestock to St. Louis stockyards in the 1940s. Evelyn was a member of Telephone Pioneers and a lifelong member of St. John's Church.
Loving survivors include a grandson, Brian "Slim" Schoenebeck of Jackson; a granddaughter, Michelle Schoenebeck of Hutto, Texas; two great-grandsons, Cody Schoenebeck of Jackson and Keoni Ramo of Hutto; a brother, Vernon Ludwig of Jackson; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Schoenebeck of Jackson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Schoenebeck in 1997, and two sisters.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until service time today at St. John's Church.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Church Cemetery.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's Church Cemetery Fund.
