EVELYN SCHAEFER

JERSEYVILLE, Ill. -- Evelyn L. Schaefer, 75, died Friday at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville, Ill.

She was born in Jackson, Mo., daughter of John Edward and Artie Godwin McGuire.

She was a graduate of Cape Central High School.

She and James F. Schaefer were married Aug. 2, 1947, in Cape Girardeau.

The family moved to Jerseyville in 1985.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, James F. Schaefer Jr. of Green Belt, Md., John Schaefer and Mark Schaefer of Jerseyville; four daughters, Susan D. Vaden of Cambridge, Ma., Mary Fillback of Jerseyville, Margaret "Peggy" Tanner of East Alton, Ill., and Patricia "Patty" Duggan of Cottage Hills; a brother, Harry McGuire of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Mary Quade of Chaffee, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a son.

Friends may call at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
