EVELYN MAE BESS

Evelyn Mae Bess, 84, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994, at the Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born July 4, 1909, at Boston, Mass., daughter of Bernard and Harriet Sears Slade.

She married Wilburn Luther Bess, Feb. 2, 1946, at Sikeston. He preceded her in death.

Bess was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Marcus Martin of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Graveside funeral services will be at 12:15 p.m. today at the Memorial Park Cemetery in the cemetery gazebo, with the Rev. John Owens officiating.

Burial will follow.
