Evelyn E. Monroe, 91, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at San Pablo, Calif.
She was born Sept. 22, 1907, in Sikeston, daughter of John E. and Grace D. Murphy Barnhardt.
A former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, she moved to California in 1943. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1950 as a registered nurse. She owned and operated several nursing homes in California.
She lived in Oregon for 10 years after she retired, then returned to California.
She is survived by two sons, Harold Burns of Pinole, Calif., and Jack Burns of San Pablo; three daughters, Dolores Krogmoe of San Pablo, Rhea Seider of Bend, Ore., and Tami Gonroff of Newberg, Ore; five grandchildren;, six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. David Hintz officiating.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
