Evelyn Joyce Fox Davis, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2016, surrounded by her family at her home in Jackson. An only child, Evelyn was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Jackson to William Jewell and Euria Richardson Fox. She and James Robert "Bob" Davis were married Sept. 26, 1947, in Jackson. They had been married 41 years, when Bob passed away April 17, 1989...

Evelyn Joyce Fox Davis, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2016, surrounded by her family at her home in Jackson.

An only child, Evelyn was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Jackson to William Jewell and Euria Richardson Fox. She and James Robert "Bob" Davis were married Sept. 26, 1947, in Jackson. They had been married 41 years, when Bob passed away April 17, 1989.

Evelyn attended school in Jackson. At the age of 16, she went to work for the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson, retiring after 23 years to raise her children and keep the books for the family painting business.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson and taught Sunday school 36 years for the "Beginners Class."

Loving survivors include four children, Vickie Sue (Randy) Sievers, Randy James (Carolyn) Davis, Joyce Ann (Cleo) Johns and Nancy Jewell Davis, all of Jackson; six grandchildren, Dustin Lynn (Ashley) Sievers, Brandon Wayne Sievers, Nathaniel James Davis, Benjamin Joseph Davis, Jacob Johnson Davis and Jordan Taylor Johns, all of Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Madison Jo Sorbello, Seth Michael Sievers and Savannah Rose Sievers, all of Jackson; and one great-stepgrandchild, Mason Rydar Strong of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Memorial Fund of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
