SIKESTON -- Eugene V. Kindred, 85, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, May 4, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 27, 1908, in McMullin, son of William Jerome and Minnie P. Poole Kindred. He and Gladys Marie Alcorn were married July 4, 1931. She died Aug. 6, 1993.
Kindred formerly owned and operated the Little Big Dollar Store in Kennett, retiring in 1976 and moving to Sikeston. He had also operated service stations for Conoco, Standard and Mobil Oil Companies, and Kindred's Grocery Market here.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Alan Kindred of Orange, Calif.; a daughter, Joy O'Neal of Bridgeton; a brother, Herman Kindred of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, five brothers, a sister and a half sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dolan Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
