SCOTT CITY -- Eugene Lawrence Compass, 56, of Scott City, died Wednesday, May 15, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Compass was born Dec. 19, 1934 at Kelso, son of John William Compass and Clara Seyer Compass.
He married Alvina Virginia Petitt on Feb. 11, 1956 at Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include sons Larry Compass, Scott City, Jeff Compass, Laguna Beach, Calif., and Greg Compass, Irvine, Calif.; sisters, Vernita Bles and Emma Scherer, both of Scott City; and four grandchildren.
He was a brakeman-conductor for the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad, and was a veteran, serving 23 years in the Naval Reserve. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #6420 and the United Trainmen's Union.
Service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Leveillee and the Rev. Robert Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Scott City.
Friends may call at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home Thursday after 3 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and a Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
