Eugene Holloway Jr., 68, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 11, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 7, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, son of H. Eugene and Joyce Nichols Holloway Sr. He and Marsha A. White were married March 10, 1979, in Cape Girardeau.
Eugene Holloway Jr. was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
Truly an outdoors man, Eugene enjoyed fishing and traveling the world hunting with all his friends and family. He especially loved duck hunting with his beloved black lab, Drake. He lived life to the fullest and was always an inspiration to his family and friends.
Eugene Holloway Jr. continued his father's dream by becoming the second generation to run Holloway Carpet One Floor and Home. Eugene Holloway Sr. and Eugene Holloway Jr.'s dreams are still being fulfilled by second and third generations of family. Eugene Holloway Jr. expanded his knowledge and experience in the flooring industry when he opened Stone Mountain Carpet Outlet, along with his real estate investments. His legacy is being continued by his wife and children.
He will be dearly missed by his mother; wife; children, Jared (Christy Ziegler) Holloway of Cape Girardeau and Megan (Josh) Andrews of Cape Girardeau; brothers, David (Candy) Holloway of Flagstaff, Arizona, Kerry (Kelly) Holloway of Cape Girardeau and Lance (Lynne) Holloway of Jackson; sister, Valarie (Ted) Matthews of Springhill, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Laura) White of Silex, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Nancy (Greg) Behlmann of Silex.
Other survivors are his grandchildren, Mason Ziegler of Cape Girardeau, Aubrie Holloway of Cape Girardeau and Olivia Ziegler of Cape Girardeau. He will also be missed by all his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Holloway Sr.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral, with full military honors, will follow at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
