DELTA -- Eugene Halter, 77, of Delta died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 30, 1921, in Denver, Colo., son of William David and Victoria Brucker Halter. He and Barbara Foster were married Dec. 25, 1945.
Halter was a machine operator 36 years at Metal Good Corp. in St. Louis, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Church of God and Delta Senior Citizens.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received two Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patricia Haley of Mountain Home, Ark.; a brother, Bill Halter of Godfrey, Ill.; a sister, Bertha Nation of Benton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dan Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
